Car Cleaning Hacks to Make Your Cleaning Last
The arrival of summer brings many changes in your lives and most people have a to-do list ready that includes cleaning the car. Here are few car cleaning hacks that will breathe life in your dull-looking car.
Clean the Cup Holders with a Toothbrush
Cup holders are some of the places in your car where a lot of dirt accumulates. It can be a difficult task to clean these hard to reach spaces. The solution to this problem is using old toothbrushes to scrape of the dirt and then using a vacuum cleaner to scoop it up.
Line the Car Floor with Rags
A lot of dirt gets trapped below the floor mats in the car. After you have removed the car mats, you need to use a vacuum cleaner with a long hose to suck the dirt from the floor of the car. If you plan to clean the seats first, you can line the car floor with rags so that all the dirt falls on them and can be easily cleaned in the washing machine. This will not only save time but also prevent the car floor from getting any dirtier.
Clean the Seats with Recommended Cleaners
Car seat covers are made of different materials, including polyester, nylon or even leather. You can use a vacuum cleaner to pick up any loose dust and use a soft brush to remove stains. You need to use recommended cleaners which are suitable for car seat material. If the seats in the car are made of leather, you need to use mild cleansers for cleaning and use a natural oil moisturizer to keep the leather soft. If there are any stains on the leather seats, you can use toothpaste to get rid of minor stains. However, be sure to test the toothpaste on a small patch before to ensure that it does not affect the leather the wrong way.
Cleaning the Dashboard
The dashboard is mostly made of polyurethane foam and you need to use a mild soap or recommended cleaner to get rid of dirt and grime from the dashboard and center console. You can start with dipping the microfiber cloth in the mild soap solution and run the moist cloth across the dashboard and center console. Make sure there is no water dripping from the cloth. You can use a vent brush to clean vents, gear shifts, crevices and narrow spaces where dust has accumulated. Once the dashboard and center console are sparkling clean, you can use polish to give it a little shine.
Cleaning the Exterior
Always use a mild cleanser (acid-free) to wash the exterior of the car. Make sure you scrub off the dirt using a microfiber cloth and avoid using hard brushes that may damage the paint of the car. After you have cleaned the outer body of the car, you need to also clean the front windshield and windows to make them sparkling clean. You also need to scrub off the dirt from your tires and rims and ensure the inner side of the rims are free from dirt. You can use a high-pressure hose to get rid of dirt from tires and rims.
The car cleaning hacks mentioned above will make your car look like new and smell fresh for a long period of time.
