Civic Model Lineup

Not only does the ninth-generation Civic lineup still feature the Civic Sedan, Civic Coupe, Civic Hybrid, Civic GX Natural Gas, and Civic Si sedan and coupe models we have all come to love, but it also adds an all-new model - the Civic HF. The HF is the most fuel-efficient gasoline-only Civic, powered by a 140-hp 1.8-liter i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine that allows it to achieve a staggering 41 MPG highway. This is done with the help of improved aerodynamics and Honda Eco Assist.

Fuel Economy

Since the fuel economy in the HF is so good, Honda boosted the MPGs in all the other Civic models, as well. The 2012 Civic Hybrid, now powered by an all-new lithium-ion battery and a bigger 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine that put out a combined 110 hp, gets 4 MPG more than the 2011 Civic Hybrid, giving it a city/highway fuel economy of 44 MPG. Like the HF, it also features improved aerodynamics and Honda Eco Assist. Additionally, the 2012 Civic Sedan, Civic Coupe and Civic GX Natural Gas employ Honda Eco Assist to increase their MPGs above their previous incarnations. Both the Civic Sedan and Civic Coupe, powered by the same engine as the HF, receive a 3 MPG boost, increasing their highway MPG to 39, while the fuel economy of the Civic GX Natural Gas makes a 7-percent gain.

Features and Options

The 2012 Civic Coupe and Sedan share the same trim levels: DX, LX, EX, EX-L. The base DX trim level has Honda's Eco Assist System and Drive-By-Wire Throttle System, Power Windows, Tilt and Telescopic Steering Column Fold-Down Rear Seatback, Rear Window Defroster with Timer, and 12V Power Outlet. Stepping up to the LX gives drivers the Intelligent i-MID with Color TFT Screen, USB Audio Interface, AC with Filtration System, Illuminated Steering Wheel-Mounted Cruise, Audio and i-MID Controls, 160-Watt AM/FM/CD Audio System with Four Speakers and MP3/Auxiliary Input Jack.

The EX trim adds a few nice upgrades, including 16" Alloy Wheels, a Power Moonroof with Tilt, 60/40 Split Fold-Down Rear Seatback, Two Extra Speakers, Bluetooth, and Steering Wheel-Mounted Phone Controls. An optional package adds Satellite-Linked Navigation System with Voice Recognition. The EX-L possesses all the great features of the EX but adds Leather-Trimmed Seats, Leather-Wrapped Steering Wheel, Heated Front Seats and Heated Power Side Mirrors to the mix for the ultimate, driving experience.

The 44 MPG hwy Hybrid model comes standard with Honda's Integrated Motor Assist IMA®System, 8-Valve, 1.5-liter, SOHC i-VTEC® 4-Cylinder Engine, Lithium-Ion battery pack, Ecoo Assist System, Continuously Variable Transmission, USB Audio Interface and Bluetooth. There is also a Leather Package and a Satellite-Linked Navigation System™ with Voice Recognition Package that can be added (and combined with each other), as well.

The HF offers the same safety, interior, exterior and technical features as the LX trim level of the Civic Coupe/Sedan. Those highlights include i-MID (intelligent Multi-Information Display) with Color TFT Screen, USB Audio Interface, Air Conditioning with Air-Filtration System, 160-Watt AM/FM/CD Audio System with 4 Speakers, MP3/Auxiliary Input Jack, Power Windows and Locks, Cruise Control and much more.

Civic Si Sedan & Coupe

Even the sporty 2012 Civic Si sedan and coupe models, which get a power increase for 2012, also gain in the MPG department. Stocked with a bigger and more powerful new 2.4-liter i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine that puts out 200 hp and 170 lb.-ft of torque, the Civic Si get a fuel economy increase of 2 MPG over its 2011 model, boosting it to 31 MPG highway. All of this with a larger engine, a 6-speed manual transmission, and a torque increase of 22%. Regardless of which model you choose, you are sure to get a fun, fuel-efficient and sporty ride.
